Natalie McComas grew up on the east coast of NSW spending her high school lunch times in the dark room, inspired by the magic of developing black and white film and prints by hand.

For the last two decades she has freelanced to national and international clients and publications as a lifestyle, commercial and documentary photographer. Her documentary work has been recognised in competitions such as the Moran Photographic Prize, The Leica/CCP Documentary Award and, most recently, by VSCO’s Artist Initiative.

Now based on Bundjalung Country in Northern NSW, Natalie draws creative inspiration from the stunning region that surrounds her and holds a deep appreciation for the rhythms of nature and the simple pleasures of life. Through her personal work, she has the opportunity to evoke a sense of wonder and reverence for Australia’s unique native flora and landscapes, fostering a greater sense of responsibility towards preserving them for future generations to cherish and enjoy.

In 2015 McComas was awarded funding by VSCO's Artist Initiative to undertake her documentary project, In This Skin and travelled around the world to share the stories of 23 people living this life with a prominent birthmark. (The stories from this project can be found here). A limited edition book will soon be published from this project. Please subscribe to my mailing list to find out when it will be released!
